Lightweight Technologies Showcase 2011

Be part of the future of manufacturing

On Wednesday 20th July, 2011, WMG’s PVLT project hosted the Lightweight Technologies Showcase at the International Digital Lab, University of Warwick. The purpose of the Showcase was to demonstrate the technologies being developed here at WMG, and to show companies how they too can benefit from implementing these technologies in their own businesses.

The event was attended by over 40 companies from the West Midlands and beyond, and kicked off with a keynote speech from former MD of Stadco, Andrew Morriss. Stephen Badger, Research Manager of Jaguar Land Rover, then gave a talk on the importance of lightweight materials to his company.

Technical presentations from WMG Project Managers completed the morning session, with contributions made by representatives of project partner companies. The afternoon session consisted of a tour around WMG’s lightweight technology facilities with expert demonstrations being provided by members of the PVLT project team. Here is some of the feedback we’ve had from those who attended:

“Well organised – as always.”

“Very informative and enjoyable.”

“A very interesting and educational day.”
